The NWDA Tourism Awards
-

How do you make Blackpool Pleasure Beach even more pleasurable? Simple, make it jaw-droppingly sensational with an event hosted at Blackpool Tower. Setting the scene for the NWDA Tourism Awards was the job of the world famous Blackpool Tower ballroom. Sensationally stylish, quintessentially kitch, the ballroom’s unique dance floor and extreme architecture are further embellished with balconies gorgeous enough to have come straight out of a Disney fairytale. We just added the fairy dust! The Pickled Walnut team helped make the event a spectacular reality, creating regional cuisine for a fine dining experience complemented by a behind-the-scenes Management Service that can only be described as seamless as a Quickstep to a Foxtrot from Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers.

With such a nostalgic venue, a huge logistical undertaking and some of the most delicious food to grace Blackpool ever, surely the biggest award on the evening must go to Pickled Walnut?

Opera De Peroni
-

Coming over all Italian was the call for The Opera de Peroni Festival at not one, but three city locations. The brief? To deliver branded Italian-style festival catering. We can do a lot better than that! Working under the remit of events company, The Bank, we set up a Peroni-branded Marquee during the day for the public to purchase a beer (Peroni of course) and an Italian-style lunch box followed by the Peroni de Opera – a pop up opera-inspired performance enjoyed further with our complimentary drinks and then later guests were treated to authentic Italian-style anti-pasti on platters at the main performance.

Our very own little Italy and three mammoth tasks – but all done seamlessly, without fuss and with the passion Italians thrive upon. Pickled Walnut designed and prepared the menus (all fresh as you would expect) and handled every detail from start to finish. In short, Pickled Walnut delivered a festival smoother than Raoul Bova lying on a bed of velvet.

Weddings
-

In September 2012, against the backdrop of majestic Hoghton Tower, we had the honor of catering Nicola Pattison’s and Jonathon Simpson’s wedding. The Tower’s been the home of the de Hoghton family since the Norman Conquest. The long driveway to the 16th century grand façade allowed us to follow in the footsteps of William Shakespeare, Charles Dickens and King James I who, at a banquet held in his honour, famously knighted a loin of beef ‘Sir Loin’.

It is from this banquet that we drew our inspiration for a very unique wedding breakfast. In-keeping with the theatre and style of the stately home, we donned our tall chef’s hats and carved the roasted Sirloin of Bowland beef at the table, and with a bit of bravado, a dash of cheekiness and a big dollop of professionalism, we made bride and groom Nicola and Jonathon feel like King and Queen!

Taste of the North 2012
-

If we can’t do it for ourselves, how can we expect to do it for our customers? So on Wednesday 11th April, 2012 we rolled up our culinary cuffs and got stuck into the mixing bowl for the Pickled Walnut annual event ‘Taste of the North’ at the stunning venue ‘The Crypt’.

The event is our way of thanking all of our suppliers and customers – allowing Chef to flaunt her creative prowess and produce a banquet that truly represents the service we provide, the food we lovingly prepare and serve, and the genuine enjoyment we all experience every time we provide something unique, individual and memorable. Attracting 266 guests with a delicious 9 course ‘Best of British’ tasting menu and fine wine to match each course – it’s not surprising we set a few tongues wagging – and a few wanting seconds.

Make sure you get your invite for next year.
